The Garmin eTrex® 22x Rugged Handheld GPS is built for outdoor navigation with a compact, easy-to-carry design and a bright 2.2" transflective color TFT display. This configuration is well suited for hikers, hunters, campers, and anyone who wants dependable positioning and mapping in a handheld format.
It comes preloaded with TopoActive, routable maps and supports GPS and GLONASS for tracking and navigation. With 8 GB of memory, microSD™ expansion support, and long 25 hours battery life on 2 AA batteries (not included), the eTrex 22x is designed for extended days on the trail, on the water, or off the grid.
Navigation
Preloaded TopoActive maps provide routable navigation and include detailed hydrographic features such as coastlines and lake/river shorelines. Searchable points of interests like parks, campgrounds, scenic lookouts, and picnic sites help with trip planning, while park, forest, and wilderness-area displays add helpful context as routes evolve.
Connectivity
Support for GPS and GLONASS, paired with a high-sensitivity receiver, helps maintain positioning in a wide range of outdoor environments. A GPS compass (while moving) assists with direction guidance during active travel, and point-to-point navigation supports straightforward routing between locations in the field.
Battery
A compact body with an IPX7 water rating is designed for wet conditions and outdoor use. Power comes from 2 AA batteries (not included), with NiMH or Lithium recommended, and up to 25 hours battery life to help extend time between battery changes during multi-day outings.
The eTrex® 22x supports a robust set of navigation storage for building and recording trips. It can store 2000 waypoints/favorites/locations and 200 routes, with 250 points per route and 50 points auto routing. For tracking progress, the navigation track log supports 10000 points and 200 saved tracks, helping keep a usable history of where the day went and where to go next.
With 8 GB of built-in memory and the ability to add maps via microSD card, the eTrex 22x can be tailored to different regions and adventures. It supports up to 3000 map segments and external memory storage with a 32 GB max microSD™ card, helping manage larger map libraries. It is also custom maps compatible for added flexibility, supporting 100 custom map tiles.
In addition to mapping and positioning, the eTrex 22x includes practical outdoor features that can support time outside. Tools include area calculation, fish forecast, and sun and moon information for planning around daylight and conditions. It is also geocaching-friendly with paperless support, and includes a picture viewer for viewing compatible images on the device.
