The Garmin eTrex® SE (GPS Handheld Navigator configuration) is a straightforward handheld GPS device built for hikers, explorers, and geocachers who want reliable navigation in a compact, easy-to-carry format. A high-resolution 2.2” transflective monochrome display helps keep information readable in bright sunlight, while the IPX7 water rating adds confidence when conditions turn wet.
Designed for long outings, it delivers 168 hours in standard mode or 1,800 hours in expedition mode using 2 field-replaceable AA batteries (not included). With multi-GNSS support and a built-in digital compass, it helps keep users oriented on the move or while stopped, and it can add wireless features when paired with the Garmin Explore™ app.
eTrex® SE can use GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS to improve tracking in more challenging environments than GPS alone. The high-sensitivity receiver supports confident positioning on the trail, and navigation tools such as point-to-point navigation and TracBack® help guide the way back when it’s time to return.
For geocachers, eTrex® SE supports Geocache Live for automatic cache updates, including descriptions, logs and hints.
With up to 168 hours of battery life in standard mode and up to 1,800 hours in expedition mode, eTrex® SE is suited to extended trips and multi-day travel. Power comes from 2 AA batteries (not included), making it easy to swap in fresh batteries in the field when needed.
Display
eTrex® SE uses a 2.2" transflective, monochrome display designed to stay readable outdoors, with 240 x 320 pixels of resolution. The handheld form factor measures 2.4" x 4.0" x 1.3" (6.1 x 10.0 x 3.3 cm) and weighs 5.5 oz (156.5 g) with batteries, with a lens made from chemically strengthened glass. Navigation
A built-in digital compass helps users keep their bearings and follow a heading with confidence. The compass provides an accurate heading even when stationary, and the device includes a tilt-compensated 3-axis compass. With support for tracks and navigation routes, eTrex® SE is well-suited to staying on course through unfamiliar areas.
Connectivity
When paired with the Garmin Explore™ smart-device app over Bluetooth®, eTrex® SE adds wireless capabilities such as trip planning, cloud storage, wireless software updates, smart notifications and additional mapping. The same app connection also enables weather features, including real-time forecast information and weather forecasts, helping users stay aware of changing conditions.
