The Garmin eTrex® Solar (Solar Powered GPS Handheld Navigator) is a simple-to-use handheld GPS built for hiking and outdoor exploring where dependable positioning and long runtime matter. Its 2.2" transflective, monochrome display is designed to stay readable in bright conditions, and the housing is water-resistant with an IPX7 rating.
With solar charging, multi-band GPS support, and a tilt-compensated 3-axis compass, it helps users stay oriented on the move or even when stopped. When paired with the Garmin Explore™ smart-device app, it adds wireless connectivity for trip planning, software updates, smart notifications, weather forecasts, and more ways to manage adventures.
Battery
eTrex® Solar is built to keep going. It delivers unlimited battery life when used in 75,000 Lux conditions, and it can run up to 200 hours with no solar charging. Multiple tracking options are supported, including GPS only tracking up to 200 hours, GNSS and Multi Band Tracking up to 100 hours, and Expedition mode up to 1,800 hours.
Navigation
For improved positional accuracy, multi-band GPS provides access to multiple frequencies sent by navigation satellites. The receiver supports multiple satellite systems, including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, BeiDou, and IRNSS, and it also includes multi-band frequency support for demanding environments.
Connectivity
When paired with the Garmin Explore™ smart-device app, eTrex® Solar supports wireless software updates, cloud storage, trip planning, smart notifications, and additional mapping. The same connection can also enable real-time forecast information, helping users stay aware of changing conditions while planning and navigating.
Display
The device uses a high-resolution 2.2" transflective, monochrome display with 240 x 320 pixels, designed for visibility in bright sunlight. Its compact handheld size and chemically strengthened glass lens help it fit naturally into a daypack or gear kit, while the USB-C interface supports convenient charging and connections as needed. Navigation
A built-in digital compass helps keep bearings during navigation. The compass is a tilt-compensated 3-axis design and provides an accurate heading even when stationary, making it easier to verify direction at a stop before continuing along a route. While moving, the unit can also use a GPS compass to help maintain on-course guidance during active travel.
