The Garmin Forerunner® 970 in the Titanium with Whitestone Case and Whitestone/Translucent Amp Yellow Band configuration is a GPS smartwatch built for structured training, everyday wear, and detailed navigation. A bright 1.4-inch AMOLED display and durable Sapphire Crystal lens are paired with a lightweight titanium bezel for a premium feel.
Designed for runners and multisport athletes, it delivers advanced training, recovery, and readiness insights, plus full-color built-in mapping and multi-band GPS with SatIQ™ technology. With up to 15 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and up to 26 hours in GPS-Only GNSS mode, it’s ready for long training weeks, race prep, and weekend adventures.
Display
A 1.4-inch AMOLED display with 454 x 454 pixels helps training data and maps stay easy to read at a glance. The Sapphire Crystal lens adds durability for everyday wear, while the touchscreen interface supports fast interaction during workouts and on the move.
Navigation
Built-in, full-color mapping supports navigation on roads and trails, with tools such as turn-by-turn directions, dynamic round-trip routing, and course guidance. Preloaded road and trail maps plus features like TracBack® and Back to start help keep routes clear and easier to follow.
Connectivity
A built-in speaker and microphone enable phone calling when the watch is paired to a compatible smartphone. Voice command support helps control select watch functions, and Bluetooth®, ANT+® and Wi-Fi® connectivity supports syncing with Garmin Connect™ mobile and smart notifications.
Training
Forerunner® 970 brings training-focused tools together to support smarter decisions day to day. Training readiness combines sleep quality, recovery, training load and more into a score you can check after waking up, while training status uses indicators such as HRV status, recent exercise history and VO2 max to show whether training is productive, peaking or strained. Daily suggested workouts for running, track run and cycling adapt after every run to match performance and recovery, and recovery time helps estimate when the body may be ready for the next high-effort session.
Navigation
Runners can track wrist-based running dynamics such as cadence, stride length and ground contact time, along with wrist-based running power to manage effort on road or trail. Running economy and step speed loss are available when paired with the HRM 600 monitor (sold separately), helping quantify efficiency and how much speed is lost at foot strike. Running tolerance helps better understand the impact each run has on the body and provides a recommended weekly maximum mileage to support consistent training without overreaching.
Battery
Navigation and tracking are supported by multi-band GPS and SatIQ™ technology, designed to optimize positioning accuracy and battery life. Battery life is rated at up to 26 hours in GPS-Only GNSS mode, up to 23 hours in SatIQ (AutoSelect) GNSS mode, and up to 21 hours in All-Systems GNSS mode + Multi-Band. For long days that include audio, it’s rated at up to 14 hours in GPS-Only GNSS mode with music, up to 13 hours in SatIQ (AutoSelect) GNSS mode with music, and up to 12 hours in All-Systems GNSS mode + Multi-Band with music.
