The HJC RPHA 12N Shadow the Hedgehog is a full-face motorcycle helmet built around an aerodynamic shell shape for performance-focused riding. This graphic is offered in Shadow MC-1SF and is designed to keep the helmet stable at speed while helping reduce air drag and noise through its HJ-42 curved shield and ratchet system.
For comfort across changing conditions, it uses an advanced ventilation layout with 4 intakes and 3 exhausts, including an enlarged front intake aimed at maximum defogging. Inside, the liner is fully removable and the cheek pads are interchangeable across all sizes to help fine-tune fit. An emergency pull tab is included for easier cheek pad removal when needed. DOT FMVSS No. 218 and ECE 22.06 approved.
Construction
RPHA 12N uses an aerodynamic shell structure intended for high-speed stability and performance-oriented riding. The shell is constructed with high-performance materials infused with epoxy resin and fiber tissue, drawing inspiration from aircraft and racing technology. The HJ-42 curved shield and ratchet is also designed to help reduce air drag and noise during the ride.
Ventilation
An advanced airflow system supports comfort when the pace picks up. The helmet features 4 air intakes and 3 exhaust vents to keep air moving through the helmet at speed. An enlarged front intake is designed for maximum defogging, helping keep the view through the shield clearer when conditions change.
Safety Design
For its shell construction, the RPHA 12N uses a Premium Integrated Matrix (P.I.M.) shell described as lightweight and durable, with impact resistance as a design goal. For added preparedness, it includes an emergency kit with removable cheek pads, designed to allow quick and secure rescue when needed, along with an emergency pull tab.
Shield
The RPHA 12N is equipped with an HJ-42 curved shield and ratchet mechanism designed to reduce air drag and noise while riding. The HJ-42 system is also listed with a Pinlock® HJ-42 Lens Insert (DKS495) as a compatible option for riders who want to add a Pinlock setup. The enlarged front intake is designed for maximum defogging to support clearer vision in varying conditions.
Comfort
Comfort and fit adjustability are built in through a fully removable interior and all size interchangeable cheek pads. This setup allows the helmet’s interior to be taken out as needed and lets riders dial in fit by swapping cheek pads across sizes. In addition, an emergency pull tab supports easier cheek pad removal when required.
