The HJC RPHA 71 Carbon is a full-face sport-touring helmet built around a lightweight carbon fiber shell and an aerodynamic shape aimed at stability at speed. In the Carbon graphic, it’s designed to suit a wide range of rides, from daily commutes to long cross-country days, with a focus on airflow management and reduced turbulence.
It uses a front-to-back ventilation layout with two intake vents and two exhaust vents, and it pairs that ventilation with a shield and sun-visor system designed for changing light and weather. The helmet is also Smart HJC ready for 11B, 21B, and 50B Bluetooth systems (sold separately), making it easy to add communication without changing the helmet’s clean exterior.
Construction
RPHA 71 Carbon uses a carbon fiber shell and includes carbon-exclusive styling touches such as gunmetal-colored vent frames and a gold anodized aluminum D-ring. The helmet is also listed as DOT Approved. This setup is aimed at keeping the helmet compact and lightweight while maintaining a premium sport-touring build.
Shield
The helmet uses an HJ-40 visor with an anti-scratch coating and 99% UV protection, plus a quick ratchet system and a push-release visor lock. Inside, a dynamic multi-step sun shield is built in, with a dark smoke sun shield pre-installed. A Pinlock is included for fog management.
Ventilation
A streamlined shell and a front edge spoiler are used to help manage air turbulence and noise. Venting runs front to back with two intakes and two exhaust vents, supported by maximum performance top and low vents and an adjustable ventilation system intended to reduce fogging, noise, and drag. Smart HJC readiness supports 11B, 21B, and 50B systems (sold separately).
Ventilation
RPHA 71 Carbon is shaped for stability at higher speeds with an aerodynamic shell structure designed to reduce air resistance. To help keep conditions consistent inside the helmet, it uses a full front-to-back airflow path, combining two intake vents with two exhaust vents. For fine-tuning, the helmet is listed with maximum performance top and low vents and an adjustable ventilation system intended to reduce fogging, noise, and drag while riding.
Comfort
For day-to-day practicality, the interior uses removable and washable crown and cheek pads, making it easier to keep the helmet fresh over time. The included breath deflector and chin curtain add coverage around the opening area. Combined with the adjustable ventilation system and included Pinlock, the setup is designed to help manage conditions that can lead to fogging during changing weather and pace.
