The Garmin inReach® Mini 3 Compact SOS Satellite Communicator with Touchscreen is built for riders and outdoor travelers who venture beyond cellular range and still want a reliable way to communicate. Using inReach technology and an active plan, it can send and receive text messages over the Iridium® satellite network.
Its compact, rugged build pairs a high-resolution color touchscreen with backcountry-ready durability, including IP67 water rating and MIL-STD-810 testing (thermal, shock, water; bare unit only). It also supports navigation essentials such as TracBack® routing and point-to-point guidance, with additional planning and course-following features available when paired with the Garmin Explore™ app on a smartphone.
Safety
In an emergency, inReach® Mini 3 can initiate an interactive SOS message that includes GPS coordinates to the Garmin Response℠ Center, a 24/7-staffed international coordination center. SOS and messaging are delivered through the global Iridium® satellite network rather than relying on tower-based cellular coverage.
Connectivity
The color touchscreen includes a virtual keyboard for composing and exchanging text messages right from the device. When connected to a compatible smartphone, the Garmin Messenger™ app can also be used for messaging features such as group conversations, along with emojis and reactions.
Battery
For extended trips, the internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery is rated for up to 350 hours with 10-minute inReach tracking. Charging and data connections are handled through the USB-C interface, helping keep the device ready for repeat adventures.
Connectivity
With an active inReach satellite plan, LiveTrack™ sharing makes it easy for others to follow progress while the device is in motion. A web-based LiveTrack page can show location plus trip details including distance, time and elevation. The system is designed so there’s no need to point the device directly toward the sky to find satellites.
Navigation
When paired with the Garmin Explore™ app on a smartphone, inReach® Mini 3 can be used to plan a trip and follow a course to a destination and back. The device supports point-to-point navigation and TracBack® routing, while app-based features can include automatic routing for outdoor activities, satellite imagery, and access to points of interest and park or wilderness area displays (via Garmin Explore App).
Display
Designed for demanding conditions, inReach® Mini 3 is compact at 2.16" x 3.85" x 1.05" (5.50 x 9.80 x 2.67 cm) and weighs 4.31 oz (122.2 g). It uses chemically strengthened glass over a sunlight-readable, transflective color memory-in-pixel (MIP) display with 306 x 230 pixels resolution and a 1.9-inch diagonal size, and it’s water-rated to IP67.
