The Garmin inReach® Mini 3 Plus in the Compact SOS Satellite Communicator with Photo and Voice Messaging configuration is built for riders and explorers who want dependable communication beyond cellular range. Its compact, rugged design pairs a high-resolution color touchscreen with a built-in speaker and microphone for straightforward messaging in remote areas.
With an active plan, inReach Plus technology supports longer texts, photo sharing and 30-second voice messages over the Iridium® satellite network. It also adds confidence for backcountry travel with interactive SOS messaging to the Garmin Response℠ center, plus tracking and navigation tools that integrate with the Garmin Explore™ app for planning and following courses.
Connectivity
inReach® Mini 3 Plus supports multiple ways to communicate off the grid. Use the device to type longer messages with the touchscreen keyboard, and use the built-in speaker and microphone to send a 30-second voice message. When paired with a compatible smartphone and the Garmin Messenger™ app, it can also send photos and display received photos on the color screen.
Safety
For emergency use, the device can send an interactive SOS message with GPS coordinates to the Garmin Response℠ center, a 24/7-staffed international coordination center. Messages are transmitted over the global Iridium® satellite network rather than relying on tower-based cellphone coverage, helping support communication when traveling beyond cellular range.
Battery
Designed for extended time outside, inReach® Mini 3 Plus uses a rechargeable internal lithium-ion battery rated up to 350 hours with 10-minute inReach tracking. It also provides up to 95 hours in performance messaging mode, making it a strong fit for multi-day rides and remote routes where charging opportunities are limited.
Display
A 1.9-inch sunlight-readable, transflective color memory-in-pixel (MIP) display makes it easier to view information outdoors while tapping and swiping through menus. The compact housing is made to operate in extreme temperatures, and it is impact-resistant and water-rated to IP67. It also meets MIL-STD-810 (thermal, shock, water); bare unit only.
Navigation
When paired with the Garmin Explore™ app on a smartphone, inReach® Mini 3 Plus can be used to plan trips and follow a course to a destination and back. TracBack® routing helps navigate back the way you came, and point-to-point navigation supports straightforward route guidance. Mapping and routing features noted as available via the Garmin Explore app can be used to expand the planning and navigation experience.
Connectivity
With a compatible smartphone and the Garmin Messenger™ app, messaging can use Wi-Fi® wireless technology or the cellular connection of the phone when available. When beyond cell service or a Wi-Fi connection, the system can seamlessly switch to the satellite network. The device also supports contact syncing through the app, plus features such as check-in messages and voice commands for convenient operation.
