The KTM Progressive Handlebar Damping System (PHDS) is a CNC milled handlebar mount designed to add effective damping through integrated rubber inserts. Built from Aluminium with an Anodized surface, it helps reduce harsh feedback at the bars by damping hard shocks and absorbing chassis and engine vibrations.
This PHDS assembly, part number 79001939500, is aimed at riders who want a more comfortable feel while maintaining confident control. In addition to improved isolation, it provides additional handlebar damping in the horizontal direction and is engineered to maintain optimum steering precision. It replaces the standard damping rubbers used in the handlebar mount, and further dampers are available in three different degrees of hardness (soft, medium, hard) for individual adjustment.
By absorbing chassis and engine vibrations, the PHDS helps calm the sensation of buzz and repetitive feedback reaching the rider through the handlebar area. The rubber insert design is intended to be gentle on wrists and shoulder joints while still keeping the cockpit feel controlled and connected.
The PHDS is designed to damp hard shocks that can otherwise translate sharply into the rider’s hands and upper body. This added isolation supports longer, more comfortable riding by smoothing out abrupt hits without relying on a change to the handlebar itself.
