SHOEI · GT-Air 3 · Full Face

Sport-touring full-face with QSV-2 sun shield

The SHOEI GT-Air 3 is a full-face motorcycle helmet built around next-gen sport-touring priorities, pairing a sleek, wind-tunnel-developed shell shape with an integrated sun visor for changing light on the road.

Designed for Street and Touring riding, it focuses on a quieter-feeling ride experience through aerodynamic shaping, plus a ventilation layout intended to manage heat and humidity. The GT-Air 3 uses an AIM shell with an EPS liner, a CNS-1C Shield, and a QSV-2 Sun Shield, and it is DOT Certified. It is also set up around the SHOEI Comlink System for a clean installation with the optional SENA SRL 3 communication unit.

Construction

AIM shell and EPS liner

The GT-Air 3 is built with an AIM (Advanced Integrated Matrix) outer shell and an EPS liner. SHOEI describes the AIM construction as combining fiberglass and organic fibers, aimed at balancing flexibility and low weight. Inside, the polystyrene core system uses multiple elements with different absorption capacity, and the helmet features an Emergency Quick Release System (E.Q.R.S) for the cheek pads.

Shield

CNS-1C and QSV-2

A CNS-1C Shield is paired with a QSV-2 Sun Shield for touring-friendly light control. The CNS-1C is designed for a large usable field of vision with high optical quality, and it includes a central locking mechanism intended to be easy to operate with thick gloves. SHOEI also notes improved sealing, smoother opening/closing, and a “slightly open” position to increase airflow and help reduce fogging.

Communication

Comlink-ready integration

The GT-Air 3 is built around the SHOEI Comlink System, designed to integrate with the optional SENA SRL 3 for an “invisible” installation. The system uses flush controls, an internal battery, and avoids externally mounted components, with a rear charging port designed to make charging easier on a flat surface. The goal is a compact, easy-to-install communication setup without changing the helmet’s exterior profile.

Ventilation

Ventilation tuned for touring

Vent placement on the GT-Air 3 is designed around real airflow: inlets are positioned in the air stream, while exhaust outlets are set at an optimized height to help reduce temperature and humidity inside the helmet. SHOEI notes a wind-tunnel-tested upper intake shape, redesigned top outlets positioned higher for efficiency, and a redesigned lower intake that includes a removable insect filter. Vent sliders and controls are designed for use with thick gloves, and ventilation channels are built into the EPS liner and integrated into four upper head outlet openings.

SHOEI GT-Air 3 – Aerodynamic shell and spoiler edges

Aerodynamics

Aerodynamic shell and spoiler edges

The GT-Air 3 uses a fluid shell shape developed and tested in SHOEI’s large in-house wind tunnel, with integrated spoiler edges and smooth transitions between the visor and helmet shell. A slimmed-down frontal chin area is part of the overall shaping. SHOEI describes these elements as intended to improve aerodynamic performance while reducing fatigue and the impact of noise level on the wearer, aligning with the helmet’s Street and Touring focus.

SHOEI GT-Air 3 – Micro ratchet strap hardware

Safety Design

Micro ratchet strap hardware

A redesigned stainless steel micro ratchet system is used for the chin strap closure. SHOEI pairs it with a new strap constructed from high-strength, high-elasticity, high-performance fibers. The system is described as easy to handle and designed to stay properly adjusted, with a lever that has a large release angle to help prevent unintentional opening. This hardware is aimed at convenient, repeatable fit for everyday riding and longer trips.
