The SHOEI GT-Air 3 Discipline is a full-face motorcycle helmet built for sport-touring riders who prioritize all-conditions comfort and everyday practicality. It pairs the GT-Air 3 platform’s aerodynamic shell shaping and quiet-ride engineering with a bold Discipline graphic in Discipline TC-1, Discipline TC-2, or Discipline TC-6.
Key equipment includes a CNS-1C Shield and an internal QSV-2 Sun Shield, plus a Defogger Ventilation System to help manage airflow on changing rides. The helmet uses an AIM shell and an EPS Liner, is DOT Certified, and is supplied with a Pinlock EVO Lens, Breath Guard, and Chin Curtain for added versatility on the road.
Construction
Built around an AIM (Advanced Integrated Matrix) shell with an EPS Liner, the GT-Air 3 Discipline focuses on a lightweight feel and integrated construction. The model includes Emergency Quick Release System (E.Q.R.S) cheek pads to support easier helmet removal in case of an accident. A redesigned stainless steel micro ratchet system and updated strap design round out the retention system details.
Shield
The CNS-1C shield is designed for high optical quality with a large usable field of vision, and it is described as reducing the intrusion of more than 99% of incoming UV radiation into the inside of the helmet. A central locking mechanism and improved sealing details support everyday usability, including a refined slightly open position to increase airflow and help prevent fogging. A built-in QSV-2 Sun Shield adds on-the-fly glare control.
Ventilation
Ventilation is built around the GT-Air 3’s Defogger Ventilation System, with inlets positioned in the air stream and exhaust outlets set at an optimized height to help reduce heat and humidity inside the helmet. The model is developed and tested in SHOEI’s large in-house wind tunnel with an emphasis on noise reduction.
Ventilation
The GT-Air 3 platform places its ventilation inlets directly in the air stream and positions exhaust outlets higher to improve how warm, humid air is managed inside the helmet. Upper intake shaping and baseplate ridges were air tunnel tested to improve inflow, while top outlets were redesigned and relocated for increased efficiency. The lower air intake is also redesigned and includes a removable insect filter, and the EPS liner integrates ventilation channels into four upper head outlet openings.
Safety Design
For daily convenience, the GT-Air 3 model uses a redesigned stainless steel micro ratchet system paired with a new strap made from high-strength, high-elasticity, high-performance fibers. The design is intended to be easy to handle while staying consistently adjusted from ride to ride. A lever with a large release angle is designed to help prevent unintentional opening, supporting secure operation whether the rider is geared up for commuting or long-distance touring.
Communication
The GT-Air 3 is built around the SHOEI Comlink System, designed to integrate with the optional SENA SRL 3 communication unit for an invisible installation. The system is described as fully integrated into the helmet, with flush controls, an internal battery, and no externally mounted components. It is also aerodynamically optimized, and a rear charging port is positioned to make charging simpler while the helmet sits on a flat surface.
