The SHOEI GT-Air 3 Hike is a full-face sport-touring helmet built around the GT-Air 3 platform, paired with the Hike graphic in Hike TC-10, Hike TC-11, and Hike TC-8. It’s aimed at Street and Touring riding, with an aerodynamic shell shape and ventilation layout designed for long days and changing conditions.
Key equipment includes the CNS-1C Shield and an internal QSV-2 Sun Shield, plus a Defogger Ventilation System to help manage airflow and moisture. It uses an AIM shell with an EPS Liner and is DOT Certified. Included items are a Pinlock EVO Lens, Breath Guard, and Chin Curtain.
Construction
The GT-Air 3 uses an AIM shell (Advanced Integrated Matrix) paired with an EPS Liner. SHOEI describes the AIM construction as a blend of fiberglass and organic fibers, designed to balance flexibility with low weight. The model also features Emergency Quick Release System (E.Q.R.S) cheek pads for easier helmet removal when needed.
Shield
A CNS-1C Shield handles primary eye protection, while the built-in QSV-2 Sun Shield adds convenience for bright conditions. SHOEI notes the CNS-1C shield is designed for high optical quality with a wide field of vision, a central locking mechanism that’s easy to use with thick gloves, and an improved seal between the shield and beading when closed.
Ventilation
Ventilation is managed by a Defogger Ventilation System, with GT-Air 3 inlet and outlet placement designed to help reduce temperature and humidity inside the helmet. SHOEI describes wind-tunnel-tested top vents, easy-to-operate vent sliders for use with thick gloves, and ventilation channels built into the EPS liner that route air toward four upper head outlet openings.
Construction
The GT-Air 3 shell is shaped around smooth airflow, with integrated spoiler edges, smooth transitions between the visor and the helmet shell, and a slimmed-down frontal chin area. SHOEI states this design was developed and tested in SHOEI’s large in-house wind tunnel and is intended to reduce fatigue and the impact of noise levels on the wearer while maintaining a fluid overall shell shape.
Safety Design
The GT-Air 3 uses a redesigned micro ratchet made of stainless steel, paired with a new strap constructed of high-strength, high-elasticity, high-performance fibers. SHOEI describes the system as easy to handle and designed to stay properly adjusted, with a lever that has a large release angle to help prevent unintentional opening during use.
Communication
SHOEI notes flush controls, an internal battery, no externally mounted components, and a rear charging port intended to make charging simpler when the helmet is placed on a flat surface.
