The SHOEI RF-1400 is a full-face motorcycle helmet offered in clean, solid colorways for riders who prefer a refined, minimalist look without giving up track-inspired design priorities. With riding-style ratings that favor Street most strongly, it also suits Race and Touring use as shown on the page.
Built around SHOEI’s Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ shell and a Dual Density EPS liner, the RF-1400 pairs compact aerodynamics with a focus on airflow management and wind-noise control. It uses the CWR-F2 shield system and includes a Pinlock® Evo Lens, plus a Breath Guard and Chin Curtain to support everyday comfort across changing conditions.
Construction
The RF-1400 uses a Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ shell and a proprietary Dual-Layer/Multi-Density EPS liner. It also features the Emergency Quick Release System (E.Q.R.S.) to support helmet removal by trained responders. Certification is listed as Snell M2025D and DOT-218 Approved.
Shield
A CWR-F2 shield system is used, combining a 2D flat outside surface with 3D shaping on the inside for optimized visibility and a natural view. Vortex Generators on the shield sides are designed to improve aerodynamics and help reduce wind noise, and a center locking mechanism helps distribute forces across spring-loaded base plates.
Comfort
Inside, the RF-1400 features a 3D Max-Dry System II liner paired with newly designed cheek pads. SHOEI gives the cheek pads extra volume along the bottom for a plusher feel, and uses a soft yet durable lower cheek pad fabric. A Chin Curtain and Breath Guard are included to help tailor the ride environment.
Ventilation
Vent placement and exhaust flow are shaped using SHOEI’s in-house wind tunnel work, aiming for a balance between cooling airflow and a quieter ride. On the RF-1400, the center/forehead vent is relocated and given an additional air intake hole to help increase the volume of cooling air entering the helmet. At the rear, an enlarged exhaust outlet vent is designed to take advantage of negative-pressure suction to improve hot-air expulsion.
Aerodynamics
The RF-1400’s shell aerodynamics are designed to help the helmet move cleanly through the air while also contributing to reduced wind noise. The goal is to manage airflow and turbulence without isolating the rider from useful, informative sounds from the road environment. This aerodynamic focus is a core part of how the RF-1400 is tuned for real-world street miles as well as higher-speed riding.
Comfort
To address wind noise and turbulence, the RF-1400 combines its aerodynamic shell design with Vortex Generators intended to smooth airflow around the helmet. SHOEI also uses airtight window beading to create a windproof seal at the shield opening. Inside, more voluminous cheek pads and removable ear pads are designed to suppress internal noise while still allowing essential road sounds to come through for an aware riding experience.
