The SHOEI RF-1400 Dedicated 2 is a full-face motorcycle helmet built around the RF-1400 platform’s focus on aerodynamics, comfort, and functional road-going performance. Construction
The RF-1400 Dedicated 2 is built with a Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ shell paired with a proprietary Dual-Layer/Multi-Density EPS liner. It also incorporates SHOEI’s Emergency Quick Release System (E.Q.R.S.) as part of the model’s safety-focused design approach, while keeping the overall helmet weight listed at 3.64 pounds.
Shield
A CWR-F2 shield is used with a 2D “flat” outside surface and 3D shaping inside to support optimized visibility and a more natural view. Vortex Generators on the sides of the shield are designed to improve aerodynamics and reduce wind noise, and the center locking mechanism helps distribute forces across both spring-loaded base plates.
Comfort
Inside, the RF-1400 uses a 3D Max-Dry System II liner and newly designed cheek pads intended to add volume at the bottom for greater comfort and reduced wind noise. The lower cheek pad fabric is described as soft yet durable, aiming for a plush feel while supporting long-ride wearability.
Ventilation
Ventilation on the RF-1400 platform was developed using SHOEI’s in-house wind tunnel work to balance airflow and silence. The center/forehead vent was relocated and given an additional air intake hole to help increase the volume of cooling air entering the helmet. At the rear, a new enlarged exhaust outlet vent is designed to take advantage of negative pressure suction to improve hot-air expulsion.
Aerodynamics
The RF-1400’s shell shape is designed to move efficiently through the air while contributing to reduced wind noise without blocking informative road sounds. Advanced Noise Reduction elements called out for the model include Vortex Generators that target turbulence, airtight window beading intended to create a windproof seal, and voluminous cheek pads with removable ear pads to help suppress internal noise while still allowing essential sounds through.
