Shield
The RF-1400 platform is built around the CWR-F2 shield, combining a 2D flat outer surface with a 3D interior shape for a more natural view. Vortex Generators at the shield sides are designed to support aerodynamics and help reduce wind noise, while a center locking mechanism helps distribute forces across both spring-loaded base plates.
Comfort
Inside, the RF-1400 Fortress uses a 3D Max-Dry System II liner and cheek pads shaped with added volume at the lower area to enhance comfort and help manage wind noise. The lower cheek pad fabric is described as soft yet durable, giving the interior a notably plush fit and feel for longer street and touring rides.
Ventilation
Ventilation on the RF-1400 was developed with SHOEI’s in-house wind tunnel focus on balancing airflow with a quieter ride. The center/forehead intake vent is repositioned and includes an additional intake hole to increase the volume of cooling air entering the helmet. To help pull warm air out, the design also uses an enlarged rear exhaust outlet vent intended to take advantage of negative pressure suction.
Aerodynamics
The RF-1400’s shell shape is engineered for efficient airflow, supporting stability and a reduction in wind noise while still allowing the road’s informative sounds to come through. Additional noise-management details called out for the model include Vortex Generators to reduce turbulence, airtight window beading for a wind-resistant seal, and interior components such as voluminous cheek pads and removable ear pads to help suppress internal noise.
