Construction

Shell and EPS design

The RF-1400 uses a Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ shell matched with a proprietary Dual-Layer/Multi-Density EPS liner. It also incorporates the Emergency Quick Release System (E.Q.R.S.) as part of the helmet’s overall safety-focused design. Certification is listed as Snell M2025D and DOT-218 Approved.

Shield

CWR-F2 shield system

A CWR-F2 shield is specified for the RF-1400. SHOEI’s shield design combines a 2D flat outer surface with 3D shaping inside to support optimized visibility and a more natural view. Vortex Generators on the sides of the shield are intended to improve aerodynamics and help reduce wind noise, and the center lock helps distribute closing forces across both spring-loaded base plates.

Ventilation

Ventilation and airflow balance

Vent tuning for the RF-1400 was developed using SHOEI’s in-house wind tunnel with the goal of balancing airflow and quiet. The center/forehead vent was relocated and given an additional intake hole to help increase cooling air volume. At the rear, an enlarged exhaust outlet vent is designed to better use negative pressure suction to help expel hot air.

Aerodynamics

Aerodynamic shell shaping

The RF-1400’s shell aerodynamics are intended to help the helmet move cleanly through the air while also contributing to reduced wind noise, without blocking informative road sounds. This aerodynamic approach is part of the RF-1400’s overall on-road focus, aligning with SHOEI’s Street, Touring, and Race riding-style ratings shown for the model.

Comfort

Noise management details

Noise reduction in the RF-1400 is supported by multiple elements working together: an aerodynamic shell profile, Vortex Generators aimed at reducing turbulence, and airtight window beading designed to create a windproof seal. SHOEI also notes voluminous cheek pads and removable ear pads that help suppress internal noise while still allowing essential road sounds.

SHOEI RF-1400 Knee Down – Interior comfort and fit

Fitment

Interior comfort and fit

Inside, the RF-1400 combines a Dual Density EPS liner with a 3D Max-Dry System II interior. SHOEI describes newly designed cheek pads with added volume at the bottom for greater comfort and reduced wind noise, along with a soft yet durable lower cheek pad fabric intended to create a plush fit and feel over longer rides.
