Construction

Shield
A CWR-F2 shield is specified for this RF-1400, featuring a 2D flat outer surface with 3D shaping on the inside for a more natural view. Vortex Generators positioned at the sides of the shield are designed to improve aerodynamics and reduce wind noise, and the center locking mechanism is designed to distribute forces across spring-loaded base plates.
Aerodynamics
For long rides and higher-speed use, the RF-1400 focuses on reducing wind noise through its aerodynamic shell and Vortex Generators to help limit turbulence. Airtight window beading is intended to create a windproof seal, while voluminous cheek pads and removable ear pads help suppress internal noise. The interior uses the 3D Max-Dry System II.
Ventilation
Ventilation on the RF-1400 was developed using SHOEI’s in-house wind tunnel to target a balance between airflow and quiet. The center/forehead vent was relocated and designed with an additional intake hole to help increase the volume of cooling air entering the helmet. At the rear, a larger exhaust outlet vent is designed to better use negative-pressure suction to help move hot air out.
Aerodynamics
Shell aerodynamics on the RF-1400 are designed to help the helmet move cleanly through the air while also contributing to reduced wind noise. The aerodynamic approach is intended to manage airflow without muting the informative sounds riders rely on. The result is a shape focused on smooth air management for street riding, touring mileage, and higher-speed track-oriented use reflected in the model’s ratings.
Comfort
Inside, the RF-1400 uses a 3D Max-Dry System II liner, along with cheek pads designed with additional volume at the bottom. SHOEI notes this cheek-pad shaping is intended to increase comfort and help reduce wind noise. The lower cheek pad fabric is described as soft yet durable, supporting a plush fit and feel during extended rides.
