Shield
A CWR-F2 shield is specified for the RF-1400 MS-05 Zaku I. SHOEI’s shield design combines a 2D flat outer surface with 3D technology on the inside for optimized visibility and a more natural view, and it uses an all-new center locking mechanism designed to distribute forces across both spring-loaded base plates.
Comfort
Inside, the helmet features a 3D Max-Dry System II liner paired with a Dual Density EPS foundation. The RF-1400’s cheek pads are designed with added volume at the bottom to increase comfort and help reduce wind noise, and the lower cheek pad fabric is intended to feel soft while remaining durable.
Ventilation
The RF-1400’s ventilation layout was developed using SHOEI’s in-house wind tunnel work to balance airflow and silence. The center/forehead vent is relocated and includes an additional air intake hole to help increase the volume of cooling air entering the helmet. At the rear, an enlarged exhaust outlet vent is designed to better use negative-pressure suction to improve hot-air expulsion.
Aerodynamics
Shell aerodynamics play a central role in how the RF-1400 moves through the air and how it manages wind noise. SHOEI’s design approach ties the helmet’s aerodynamic shape to a reduction in wind noise while still allowing riders to hear valuable, informative road sounds. The intent is a streamlined feel on the road without isolating the rider from their environment.
Comfort
Beyond overall shell shaping, the RF-1400 incorporates Vortex Generators to reduce turbulence and wind noise. An airtight window beading is designed to create a windproof seal around the shield area. Inside the helmet, voluminous cheek pads and removable ear pads are intended to suppress internal noise while avoiding the complete blocking of essential road sounds.
