The SHOEI RF-1400 MS-06S Chars Zaku II is a full-face motorcycle helmet that pairs the RF-1400 platform with a graphic inspired by Char Aznable’s Zaku II. Built for riders who prioritize a focused street ride and long days in the saddle, it carries SHOEI’s compact RF-1400 design along with a feature set tuned around airflow management, reduced wind turbulence, and a clear, stable shield interface.
This helmet uses a Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ shell with a Dual Density EPS liner and 3D Max-Dry System II interior components. It’s equipped with a CWR-F2 shield system and includes a Pinlock® Evo Lens, Breath Guard, and Chin Curtain. Certification is Snell M2025D and DOT-218 Approved.
Construction
The RF-1400 MS-06S Chars Zaku II is constructed with a Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ shell and a Dual Density EPS liner. It also incorporates the Emergency Quick Release System (E.Q.R.S.) as part of the RF-1400’s safety-focused design approach, while keeping weight listed at 3.64 pounds in the specifications.
Shield
A CWR-F2 shield is specified for this RF-1400. The shield design combines a 2D flat outer surface with 3D shaping on the inside for optimized visibility, and it adds Vortex Generators at the sides to support aerodynamics and reduced wind disturbance. Comfort
Inside, the helmet uses the 3D Max-Dry System II along with newly designed cheek pads that add more volume at the bottom. Ventilation
The RF-1400’s ventilation layout was developed with SHOEI’s in-house wind tunnel work to balance airflow and a quieter ride. The center/forehead vent was repositioned and given an additional intake hole to increase the volume of cooling air entering the helmet. At the rear, an enlarged exhaust outlet vent is designed to take advantage of negative pressure suction to help move hot air out.
Aerodynamics
Shell aerodynamics play a central role in how the RF-1400 behaves at speed. The RF-1400’s shape is designed to help the helmet cut through the air while also contributing to reduced wind noise, without blocking valuable, informative road sounds. Vortex Generators are also used within the RF-1400 design to help manage turbulence that can contribute to noise.
Comfort
The RF-1400’s approach to wind noise reduction combines shell shaping with detailed sealing and padding. SHOEI describes an airtight window beading intended to create a windproof seal. Voluminous cheek pads and removable ear pads are used to suppress internal noise while still allowing essential road sounds to come through, supporting a ride that feels calmer without isolating the rider.
