The SHOEI RF-1400 Origami is a full-face motorcycle helmet that pairs the Origami TC-5 graphic with the RF-1400’s focus on compact, lightweight design and refined road manners. Built around SHOEI’s Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ shell and a Dual Density EPS liner with 3D Max-Dry System II, the RF-1400 Origami also uses the CWR-F2 shield system and includes a Pinlock® Evo Lens, Breath Guard, and Chin Curtain for a ready-to-ride setup.
Construction
The RF-1400 uses SHOEI’s Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ shell paired with a proprietary Dual-Layer/Multi-Density EPS liner design. It also incorporates the Emergency Quick Release System (E.Q.R.S.) as part of the helmet’s overall safety-focused feature set. Certification for this helmet is Snell M2025D and DOT-218 Approved.
Shield
The CWR-F2 shield system combines a 2D flat outer surface with 3D technology on the inside to support a more natural view while maintaining an aggressive look. Vortex Generators on the shield’s sides help improve aerodynamics and reduce wind noise, and the center locking mechanism is designed to distribute shield forces across both spring-loaded base plates.
Comfort
RF-1400 comfort comes from newly designed cheek pads with added volume at the bottom for a plusher feel and reduced wind noise. SHOEI also specifies a soft yet durable lower cheek pad fabric intended to enhance fit and feel during longer sessions. The liner system is listed as Dual Density EPS with 3D Max-Dry System II.
Ventilation
Ventilation on the RF-1400 was refined using SHOEI’s in-house wind tunnel, focusing on balancing airflow and quiet. The center/forehead vent was relocated and updated with an additional intake hole to help increase the volume of cooling air entering the helmet. At the rear, an enlarged exhaust outlet vent is designed to take advantage of negative pressure suction to improve hot-air expulsion.
Aerodynamics
The RF-1400’s shell aerodynamics are shaped to cut through air while contributing to a reduction in wind noise without blocking informative road sounds. SHOEI also uses Vortex Generators to help reduce wind noise and turbulence. Additional noise-control elements include airtight window beading for a windproof seal, plus voluminous cheek pads and removable ear pads intended to suppress internal noise while keeping key riding sounds present.
