The SHOEI RF-1400 Origami 2 is a full-face road helmet designed around aerodynamic stability, controlled airflow, and reduced wind noise. Built with SHOEI’s Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ shell and a Dual Density EPS liner, it’s engineered for riders who prioritize a compact, performance-focused fit and a refined ride at speed.
According to the riding-style ratings, the RF-1400 platform is best suited to Street riding, with strong ratings for Touring and Race use as well. The helmet uses the CWR-F2 shield system and includes a Pinlock® Evo Lens, Breath Guard, and Chin Curtain to help tailor comfort across changing conditions.
Construction
The RF-1400 uses a Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ shell paired with a proprietary Dual-Layer/Multi-Density EPS liner. It also features the Emergency Quick Release System (E.Q.R.S.), a SHOEI design detail intended to support helmet manageability when cheek pads need to be removed.
Shield
The CWR-F2 shield system combines a 2D flat outer surface with 3D shaping inside for optimized visibility and a natural view. Vortex Generators on the shield sides are designed to aid aerodynamics and reduce wind noise, while the center locking mechanism helps distribute forces across both spring-loaded base plates.
Comfort
Inside, the RF-1400 uses a 3D Max-Dry System II liner. The newly designed cheek pads add more volume at the bottom to boost comfort and help reduce wind noise, and the lower cheek pad fabric is designed to feel soft while remaining durable for regular road use.
Ventilation
Ventilation on the RF-1400 was developed using SHOEI’s in-house wind tunnel to help balance cooling airflow with a quieter ride. The center/forehead vent was relocated and updated with an additional air intake hole to increase the volume of cooling air entering the helmet. At the rear, an enlarged exhaust outlet vent is shaped to take advantage of negative pressure suction to help pull hot air out more effectively.
Aerodynamics
The RF-1400’s shell shape is designed with aerodynamics in mind to help it move cleanly through the air. This aerodynamic approach contributes to stability and also supports reduced wind noise while still allowing the road’s informative sounds to remain present. The result is a full-face profile focused on controlled airflow behavior and a composed feel during higher-speed road riding.
Comfort
Noise management on the RF-1400 comes from multiple design elements working together. The aerodynamic shell and Vortex Generators are intended to reduce turbulence and wind noise, while airtight window beading helps create a windproof seal around the shield area. Inside, voluminous cheek pads and removable ear pads are designed to suppress internal noise without blocking essential road sounds.
