Construction
The RF-1400 uses SHOEI’s Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ shell design paired with a proprietary Dual-Layer/Multi-Density EPS liner. Shield
Visibility and shield function are centered on the CWR-F2 shield system. The shield combines a 2D flat outer surface with 3D shaping on the inside for a more natural view, and it uses an updated center locking mechanism designed to distribute forces across both spring-loaded base plates. Vortex Generators on the shield sides support aerodynamics and wind-noise reduction.
Comfort
Inside, the RF-1400 features a 3D Max-Dry System II liner and newly designed cheek pads with added volume at the bottom. SHOEI pairs this shape with soft, durable lower cheek pad fabric intended to create a plush fit and feel. The design also supports reduced wind noise through voluminous cheek pads and removable ear pads that help suppress internal noise.
Ventilation
Ventilation on the RF-1400 was developed using SHOEI’s in-house wind tunnel work to balance airflow and quiet. The center/forehead vent was relocated and given an additional intake hole to help increase the volume of cooling air entering the helmet. For warm air management, an enlarged exhaust outlet vent is designed to better use negative pressure at the rear of the helmet to help expel hot air.
Aerodynamics
The RF-1400 shell shape is designed to move efficiently through the air, supporting both stability and a reduction in wind noise while still allowing informative road sounds to come through. Vortex Generators contribute by helping reduce turbulence around the helmet. An airtight window beading is used to create a windproof seal around the shield opening, supporting the overall noise-reduction approach built into the RF-1400 platform.
