The SHOEI RF-1400 Sheen is a full-face motorcycle helmet built around the RF-1400 platform, bringing together compact design, refined aerodynamics, and a clear, stable view through the CWR-F2 shield system. Construction
The RF-1400 uses SHOEI’s Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ shell paired with a proprietary Dual-Layer/Multi-Density EPS liner. For added functionality during removal, it also incorporates the Emergency Quick Release System (E.Q.R.S.), a feature designed into the RF-1400 platform as part of its safety-focused construction.
Shield
Visibility and shield stability come from the CWR-F2 system. The shield uses a 2D flat outside surface with 3D technology on the inside for a more natural view, while Vortex Generators on the sides help manage airflow and reduce turbulence. A center locking mechanism helps distribute closing forces across both spring-loaded base plates.
Comfort
Inside, the RF-1400 Sheen features the 3D Max-Dry System II liner along with newly shaped cheek pads that add more volume at the bottom. SHOEI also uses a soft, durable fabric along the lower cheek pad area for a plush feel, while the overall shape and pad design are intended to support comfort and reduce wind noise.
Ventilation
To balance cooling and quiet riding, SHOEI used its in-house wind tunnel work to refine the RF-1400’s ventilation layout. The center/forehead vent was relocated and given an additional intake hole to help increase the volume of cooling air entering the helmet. At the rear, a new enlarged exhaust outlet vent is designed to take advantage of negative pressure suction to improve hot-air expulsion.
Aerodynamics
The RF-1400’s shell shape is tuned for aerodynamic performance in a way that also supports a reduction in wind noise while still allowing important road sounds to be heard. This aerodynamic approach works in tandem with the shield’s airflow management features to help the helmet move cleanly through the air and stay composed during real-world riding.
Comfort
Noise reduction on the RF-1400 is addressed through multiple design elements. Its aerodynamic shell and Vortex Generators are used to reduce turbulence, while airtight window beading helps create a windproof seal around the shield. Inside, voluminous cheek pads and removable ear pads are designed to suppress internal noise without blocking essential road sounds, contributing to a quieter, more comfortable ride.
