RF-1400 Yonder Full-Face Touring Helmet

The SHOEI RF-1400 Yonder is a full-face motorcycle helmet built around the RF-1400 platform for riders who prioritize street and touring use. In the Yonder TC-2 colorway, it combines SHOEI’s compact RF-1400 shape with a CWR-F2 shield system and ventilation tuning developed with SHOEI’s in-house wind tunnel.

Key RF-1400 features include the Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ shell, a Dual Density EPS liner, and the Emergency Quick Release System (E.Q.R.S.). Comfort-focused details like the 3D Max-Dry System II liner help support longer days in the saddle, while included items such as the Pinlock® Evo Lens, Breath Guard, and Chin Curtain round out the package. See the specifications and riding-style ratings below for quick comparisons.

Construction

AIM+ shell and EPS liner

The RF-1400 is constructed with SHOEI’s Multi-Ply Matrix AIM+ shell and a proprietary Dual-Layer/Multi-Density EPS liner. It also includes the Emergency Quick Release System (E.Q.R.S.) to support helmet removal when needed. Certification is listed as Snell M2025D and DOT-218 Approved.

Shield

CWR-F2 shield system

A CWR-F2 face shield is paired with an exterior 2D “flat” surface and 3D shaping on the inside for optimized visibility and a natural view. Vortex Generators on the sides of the shield are designed to improve aerodynamics and help reduce wind noise, and a center locking mechanism helps spread shield forces across spring-loaded base plates.

Ventilation

Ventilation and noise management

Using SHOEI’s in-house wind tunnel, the RF-1400’s ventilation layout was revised with a relocated center/forehead vent and an added intake hole intended to increase cooling-air volume. An enlarged rear exhaust outlet vent is designed to better use negative pressure at the back of the helmet to move hot air out, while aerodynamic shaping contributes to reduced wind noise.

Aerodynamics

Aerodynamic shell shaping

The RF-1400’s shell aerodynamics are engineered to move cleanly through the air. This design focus is intended to reduce wind noise while still allowing the rider to hear important road feedback. SHOEI also integrates details that work with airflow around the helmet to help limit turbulence, supporting a more composed ride feel at speed.

Comfort

Noise reduction details

RF-1400 noise control comes from multiple elements working together. The aerodynamic shell and Vortex Generators are designed to reduce turbulence and wind noise, while airtight window beading helps create a wind-resistant seal around the shield area. Inside, voluminous cheek pads plus removable ear pads are designed to help suppress internal noise without blocking essential road sounds.

Fitment

Interior comfort and fit

For comfort, the RF-1400 uses a Dual Density EPS paired with a 3D Max-Dry System II liner. The cheek pads are designed with added volume at the bottom to enhance comfort and help reduce wind noise, and the lower cheek pad fabric is described as soft yet durable for a plush fit and feel during street and touring miles.
