The Garmin tactix® 8 – 51 mm, AMOLED (Includes Applied Ballistics Ultralight™ Solver) is a tactical GPS smartwatch built for demanding training, navigation, and mission-focused use. It pairs a bright 1.4-inch AMOLED display with a titanium bezel and sapphire crystal lens, plus an internal speaker and microphone for voice features.
With dedicated tactical tools, multi-band GPS with SatIQ™ technology, and support for scuba and apnea dive activities, it suits users who need a single watch that can move from everyday wear into specialized environments. Battery life is rated up to 29 days (13 days always-on) in smartwatch mode, and onboard mapping and performance metrics help keep planning and progress in view.
This configuration comes preloaded with the Applied Ballistics Ultralight™ solver, providing access to aiming solutions for long-range shooting in the field. For deeper setup and target management, the AB Quantum mobile app can be used on a compatible Apple® or Android™ smartphone, including the option to use the phone as an additional display.
Built to go beyond the surface, tactix® 8 includes a depth sensor (to 40 m) and a 40-meter dive rating with support for scuba diving (single gas) and apnea dive activities. It also includes dive planning, vibration-only alerts and alarms, and a 3-axis dive compass for underwater heading guidance.
A built-in multicolor LED flashlight gives quick access to a bright, steady beam in either green or white light for low-light conditions. In NVG mode, white is disabled and the green flashlight becomes dimmable, supporting more discreet use when operating in darkness.
Durability
Designed for rugged duty, tactix® 8 combines a titanium bezel, sapphire crystal lens, and a fiber-reinforced polymer case with titanium rear cover. The 1.4-inch AMOLED display (454 x 454 pixels) is paired with an enhanced graphical interface, and the watch is tested to U.S. military standards for thermal, shock and water resistance. A silicone strap and QuickFit® watch band compatibility (included (26 mm)) round out a build intended for hard use.
Navigation
Dedicated tactical functions support specialized scenarios, including jumpmaster activity, waypoint projection, dual-position GPS format, stealth mode, kill switch, and night vision goggles compatibility. A rucking activity profile allows pack weight input for training specificity. The stage timer helps manage the remaining time in a current course of fire or stage, and direct-to navigation supports routing straight to a location or waypoint in the worldwide aeronautical database.
Design
For outdoor navigation and route confidence, tactix® 8 uses multi-band GPS with SatIQ™ technology and includes sensors for the 3-axis compass, gyroscope, and barometric altimeter. Preloaded TopoActive maps from around the world help keep explorations on track, with additional map downloads available via Wi-Fi® connectivity. On supported routes, NextFork™ navigation provides at-a-glance trail guidance, and ClimbPro™ can show real-time climb information on downloaded courses.
