The Garmin tactix® 8 – 51 mm, AMOLED, Cerakote® Coating in the configuration Includes Applied Ballistics Ultralight™ Solver and Slate Gray Cerakote® Coating is a premium tactical GPS smartwatch designed for demanding training, navigation, and mission-focused use.
It pairs a bright 1.4-inch AMOLED display with a titanium bezel and sapphire lens, then adds a Cerakote® finish and U.S. military standards testing for thermal, shock, and water resistance. With up to 29 days of battery life in smartwatch mode and a 40-meter dive rating, it’s built for long days in the field, on the range, and in the water while delivering advanced performance metrics, mapping, and connected features when paired with a compatible smartphone.
This configuration comes preloaded with the Applied Ballistics Ultralight™ solver, delivering aiming solutions for long-range shooting in the field. It also supports the AB Quantum mobile app on a compatible Apple® or Android™ smartphone to manage profiles and targets or use the phone as an additional display.
A built-in multicolor LED flashlight provides quick access to steady illumination in green or white. When using NVG mode, white is disabled and the green flashlight becomes dimmable, helping maintain low-light usability while supporting stealthy operation.
Rated to 40 meters, tactix® 8 supports scuba and apnea dive activities and includes a depth sensor (to 40 m). Dive tools include a dive planner, a 3-axis dive compass, vibration-only alerts and alarms, plus the ability to sync a dive log to the Garmin Dive™ Mobile app.
Durability
Built for hard use, this advanced tactical GPS smartwatch combines a titanium bezel with Cerakote coating, a sapphire crystal lens, and a fiber-reinforced polymer case with titanium rear cover. The 1.4” (35.56 mm) AMOLED display offers 454 x 454 pixels for crisp readability, and the watch is tested to U.S. military standards for thermal, shock and water resistance. A silicone strap is used, and QuickFit® watch band compatibility is included (26 mm).
Navigation
tactix® 8 brings dedicated tactical tools that help support specialized use cases, including jumpmaster activity, dual-position GPS format, waypoint projection, stealth mode, kill switch, compatibility with night vision goggles, and a dedicated rucking activity that allows pack weight input. For shooting sports, it also includes a stage timer to help track remaining time during a course of fire or stage.
Design
For outdoor travel and precision tracking, tactix® 8 uses multi-band GPS with SatIQ™ technology to balance positioning accuracy and battery life. Built-in sensors include a 3-axis compass, gyroscope, and barometric altimeter to support navigation and elevation data. It comes with preloaded TopoActive maps from around the world, and additional maps can be downloaded via Wi-Fi® connectivity; subscription mapping is also available through Outdoor Maps+.
