With turn-by-turn trail navigation and topographic mapping for North and South America, Tread 2 helps keep routes clear whether exploring backcountry terrain or transitioning back to streets. High-definition elevation mapping, land boundary details, and downloadable satellite imagery over Wi-Fi® technology add extra context for planning and decision-making. For riders who like to share the adventure, the Tread app supports features such as Great Rides discovery and Group Ride Mobile from a compatible smartphone.
Durability
Designed for off-road use, Tread 2 combines an ultrabright, high-resolution 8-inch touchscreen with glove-friendly control. It meets MIL-STD-810 drop rating and carries IP6X dust rating and IPX7 water rating to help handle challenging conditions. A locking magnet-assisted mount supports secure installation for demanding rides.
Navigation
Turn-by-turn trail navigation supports unpaved roads and trails with OpenStreetMap™, U.S. Forest Service Motor Vehicle Use Maps, and Adventure Roads and Trails map content. High-definition digital elevation maps and 3D terrain add detail for on- and off-road exploration, with public land boundaries and private parcel information for parcels greater than 4 acres.
Connectivity
Satellite Views allow downloadable satellite imagery directly to the device via Wi-Fi® technology, providing a high-resolution overhead perspective of routes and terrain. For expanded mapping options, Tread 2 supports Outdoor Maps+ for premium mapping content, and an Outdoor Maps+ subscription is required for access to that content.
Navigation
The Tread 2 - SxS Edition centers on an 8-inch, high brightness HD color TFT display with a multi-touch glass screen and white backlight, sized for easy viewing in a cockpit. Its upgraded processor and 10 Hz multi-GNSS positioning are intended to keep mapping responsive, including map drawing and route calculations. The navigator is sized at 8.1"W x 5.4"H x 1.1"D (20.6 x 13.7 x 2.8 cm) and weighs 22.1 oz (627 g), with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery rated up to 6 hours at 50% backlight; Up to 1 hour at 100% backlight.
Connectivity
Tread 2 works with the Tread mobile app to keep route data organized across devices. Using the app, riders can sync waypoints, tracks, routes, and collections between a mobile device and the navigator. The app also supports Easy Route Planner capabilities that use the same maps, vehicle profiles, and route preferences as the device, plus GPX import and export for sharing. Great Rides discovery and Group Ride Mobile tracking require use of the Tread smartphone app and a compatible smartphone.
Durability
When the ride transitions to streets, Tread 2 provides street directions and includes driver alerts for upcoming potential hazards, along with features like lane assist with junction view and a speed limit indicator for most major roads in the U.S. and Europe. With the Garmin Tread app, it includes traffic and access to live services via app (traffic, weather, etc.). Bluetooth® pairing is supported with BLUETOOTH-compatible helmet, headset or smartphone; BLE capable, and smart notifications are available via app.
